Installation Instructions

Minimum System Requirements:

• IBM PC Compatible computer;

• Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems; and

• 6.2 MB of free disk space.

Installation:

To install OmniLexer using the product file downloaded from the Internet, simply run the self-extracting executable file, following the instructions given in the setup window screens. To install OmniLexer from a compact disk, insert it into your drive and run the installation program, setup.exe. If the installation program does not start automatically, use the Run command from the startup menu and select the file setup.exe, or double-click it from the setup.exe from your operating system’s file explorer.

The setup program installs OmniLexer executables, help files, data files, and a "read-me" file in the root directory (i.e., ...\OmniLexer) that you select when the setup program runs. A three-tier subdirectory, "Samples", is created beneath the root directory that contains three subfolders. These subfolders contain sample scanner specifications and examples of client applications written in the several programming languages supported by OmniLexer. These programs serve a dual purpose. They illustrate how client applications use the services of lexical analyzers built using OmniLexer to construct working applications. They also can be used as test programs to verify that generated lexical analyzers behave as intended.
